8F 48546 in Chadderton Goods on a railtour 05/01/1963. The tour had run from Middleton Junction to Oldham Mumps, being the last train to work on the Werneth incline. The tour slipped to a stand on the incline and had to be banked by WD 90656. The tour went to Oldham Mumps loop where the 8F ran round for the return trip to Middleton Junction and then on to Chadderton Goods. The tour is thought to have run as 8Z40 throughout. 08675 departing Chaddy Goods in 1985. As far as I am aware this is the last time an 08 worked the branch. The 08 is possibly standing in for a failed mainline loco, & has worked the wagons from either Castleton or Middleton Junction. © Chris Bruce 2012
